AN INTRODUCTION TO
THE MANUFACTURER:

HAUSSER
ELASTOLIN

Hausser Elastolin started making composition pieces around  1912. The Company was based in Germany and made not only Animals and Zoos but Farm figures, Civilians, Cowboys & Indians, Toy Soldiers and Military Vehicles.

Composition material is a kind of sawdust and glue mixture moulded around a wire frame. This technique was widely used by other manufacturers but nowadays it is no longer used.

Around 1925 Elastolin took over the Austrian Company Tipple Topple and continued producing their figures along side their own.

In the 1960's  they started to make items in plastic and the range became very extensive.  Here we show the differences between composition and plastic and the different scales they made.
